1. Our approach to cookies
In the Story uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies. We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioral profiling. Analytics cookies are used only to understand how visitors use our website — and, where the law requires it (such as in the EU/EEA and Brazil), only after you give consent through our cookie banner.
You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of this website.
2. Cookies we use
Necessary (always active):
- x-geo — session cookie that determines your geographic region so we can apply the correct consent rules;
Analytics (subject to your consent):
- _ga — Google Analytics cookie that distinguishes unique visitors (persists for up to 2 years);
- _ga_* — Google Analytics cookie that maintains session state (persists for up to 2 years);
- _cid — first-party identifier set by our own server for consistent measurement (persists for up to 2 years).
3. Local storage
Our web application may use browser local storage solely for:
- Maintaining your authentication session (so you stay logged in);
- Remembering your language preference;
- Storing your reading preferences (theme, font size);
- Remembering your cookie consent choices (its_consent).
This data is stored only on your device. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure website traffic in aggregate (pages visited, approximate location, device type). Google Analytics runs in Consent Mode: until you consent — where consent is required — it stores nothing on your device. Some analytics events may be relayed through our own servers before being delivered to Google Analytics.
If you withdraw consent, we stop the collection and delete the analytics cookies listed above from your browser.
5. Third-party services
Our authentication provider (Firebase) may set minimal session-related data to maintain your login state. This is strictly functional and not used for tracking or advertising purposes.
6. Changes to this policy
If we introduce new cookies or tracking technologies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent again where required before any changes take effect.
